P-Square Storms Accra
The Accra Sports Stadium will swing into frenzy today, Saturday November 16, when P-Square Peter Okoye mounts the stage to do his very last act as a bachelor at the Accra edition of the Glo Slide and Bounce concert.
The Nigerian superstar weds his long-time girlfriend, Lola Omotayo, on Sunday, November 17, barely 10 hours after joining a line up of other top Nigerian and Ghanaian artistes to thrill the city of Accra with exciting music and dance.
Showbiz pundits are already referring to next Saturday's Slide and Bounce concert at the Accra Sports Stadium as 'a more than fitting Bachelors' Night session for P. Square which boasts of an incredibly huge following in Ghana.
Nigeria's international rap exponent, M.I. is also a major act on the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Ghanaian stars on the bill include the Simigwa soul originator, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Kwabena Kwabena, Asem and Sherifa Gunu.
Organizers, Glo Mobile Ghana describe the Glo Slide and Bounce musical concert as a 'thank you package for loyal subscribers over the last eighteen months the network has been in operation in Ghana.
To attend any of the three concerts, subscribers have to recharge GH¢5 on their Glo lines and SMS the name of the concert venue they prefer, such as 'Accra' or 'Takoradi' to short code 5301 to get invited to the show. The Takoradi concert takes place at the T'ardi Jubilee Park.
Members of the public can port to Glo or buy a Glo SIM and recharge with GH¢5 to get an invite. If you think Kumasi was crowded, then watch out for the massive turnout as Accra gets bigger and better!

Airtel Ghana has presented a Hyundia ascent car to a 25year old Gladys Bafo who hills from Brong Ahafo kintampo North as winner of the super star promotion which begun some months ago.
The car was presented to her by the Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Mr. Phillip Sowah while other winners also received consolation prizes form the management.
Gladys disclosed that she works at a drinking bar at labadi since she came to Accra to earn a leaving with two children but seems not to believe it when the management of Airtel Ghana called her on phone about the brand new car.
“I was nearly knocked down by a vehicle after receiving the call from the Airtel officer informing me about the car. I thought it was some 'sakawa' people who wanted to make fun of me," she said.

NIGERIANS IN LOVE WITH VICKY … As Pressure Mounts On Mahama To Reinstate Her
The controversial 'Vikileaks' tape, which has received much condemnation in Ghana, seems to have rather made the flamboyant former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah, popular in Nigeria.
Yesterday, The Chronicle office was inundated with calls from the various media outlets in Nigeria, which were seeking to get an update of the story.
What seems to have fascinated the Nigerian journalists, some of whom had previously worked with the popular Punch Newspaper, was not the size of Vicky's body, but her protruding buttocks and wide hips.
Some of them demanded to know when the picture would be uploaded on The Chronicle's website to enable them download it and use it in their local media outlets.
It was not Nigerians alone who were admiring the Ghanaian chatterbox, as a prominent lawyer and a former Member of Parliament in Ghana also called to express his admiration of her protruding buttocks, especially, of the picture we have reproduced at the front page today.
Staff members of The Chronicle were equally busy receiving calls from friends and relatives, who wanted to know what kind of picture the paper had published, and which was attracting public attention.
Commentators on most of the social media networks, especially on facebook, even though condemned the statement attributed to her on the tape, nevertheless showed great admiration for the buttocks of the young swashbuckling lady.
Meanwhile, pressure is beginning to mount on President John Dramani Mahama to reinstate the Deputy Minister he fired barely a week ago.
Twenty four hours after the tape was made public, the Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga, issued a press statement that the President had fired the Deputy Minister, who had launched a vitriolic attack on some of her colleagues in government. She also claimed on the tape that until she had made $1 million, she would not quit politics.
The President's decision to fire the Deputy Minister was commended by the New Patriotic Party firebrand Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe.
Speaking on Asempa FM, an Accra-based radio station, he wondered why a young Deputy Minister would have a notion of getting such a whopping amount of money before leaving office (politics), instead of sacrificing for the betterment of the nation.
'If her (Victoria Hammah) idea is to get into politics to get money, then that is very disturbing,' he said.
Nonetheless, he lauded the President for standing on his authority to sack the Deputy Minister, since such decisions are difficult to take. 'When I heard that the President has sacked her, I was very happy. Happy in the sense that such decisions are difficult to take, and the President has been able to take such a decision, I was extremely glad about it.'
But, whilst Dr. Tamakloe was lauding the President, chiefs from Victoria Hammah's hometown in the Brong Ahafo Region were pleading with the President to tamper justice with mercy.
Nana Guakro Effah of Kintampo thinks the punishment meted out to the former Deputy Minister was too harsh, and must be reviewed.
The vociferous NPP MP for Ablekuma West, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekoful, who Victoria Hammah contested in the last parliamentary election, also expressed regret that her political career had been cut short during an Akan discussion programme on Peace FM.
In the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) itself, there seems to be a sharp division over the decision by the President to sack the former Deputy Minister, who has so far not made any public comment on the leaked tape. via mordernghana

Ghanian Actress: Nana Ama shaves it all
Not too many actresses would completely shave their hair for a movie role but Nana Ama McBrown has just done that. She has shaved all her hair in a movie called Atemmuo (Judgement) which will be released at the end of December.
In the movie, Nana Ama shaved her hair for a trial by ordeal where she needed to prove her innocence in the death of her husband.
“I wanted to make the movie look real so I shaved all my hair. It was my first time of going completely bald in a movie,” she said.
“Although it is not out yet, I can boldly say that Atemmuo is one of the best movies I have ever shot in my acting career. I entreat everyone to grab a copy when it comes out” Nana Ama told Showbiz in an interview.
She wouldn't, however, disclose how much she was paid to shave it all off for the role though
she hinted the amount was attractive. “Yes, the money was very good but I did not shave for the money. I shaved my hair because I wanted the film to be as real as possible. I wouldn't mind going bald again if the storyline and the money involved are good,” she added.Asked how she felt now that the filming of Atemmuo was over and her hair was yet to grow back, the actress said she had actually killed two birds with one stone.
“My hair has started growing and I have even done another movie called School Girl with it. I feel good wearing my hair this way. I have decided not to wear a wig. I just want it to grow naturally and I am cool with that.”
Talking about the movie, Nana Ama said her poor mason husband couldn't do without staking lotto. She constantly advised him to stop staking lotto but the very day he decided to heed her advice, he won a huge sum. They therefore left the village for the big city to start life afresh.
Out of hatred, her sister-in-law, Bruwaa played by Amanda Jissih, plans to kill her but instead kills her own brother. Nana Ama is accussed of killing her husband and has to shave her hair as she goes through trial by ordeal to prove her innocence. Atemmuo also features Lil Win and Akrobeto.

Ghanaians should be a bit patient with the president-Prince Osei
There was Twitter war in Ghana recently between Ghanaian actor, Prince Osei and co-star, Yvonne Nelson. Yvonne took to Twitter and tweeted about the present hardship facing Ghanaians.
Actor Prince David Osei has pleaded with Ghanaians to forgive him for the comment he made about Yvonne Nelson’s tweet to Prez John Dramani Mahama in respect to the current hardship
“Mr President. Ghanaians are suffering. The people of Ghana are SUFFERING. #fuel #electricity #water plsdosomething! Thank you”.
Then in a reply to her tweet, he posted: “Ghanaians should be a bit patient with the president, and hopefully next year will be better.”
Probably his tweet didn’t go down well with Ghanaians, who in return sank their claws into him for opposing Yvonne who simply spoke out about their plights.
David appeared on Ghana’s ‘Hang Out’ segment on the Cruise Control on Hitz FM with Kwame Bee, and made an open apology to Ghanaians over his tweet.
The actor said some section of Ghanaians misinterpreted him, saying he didn’t mean to say he doesn’t know Ghanaians are suffering some hardship but that they should be patient with the president.

Ghanaian Artistes Are Jokers!
Ghana music obviously we can say has grown and reached a much appreciable level.
Artistes now do music that crosses the borders of this country, they are driving better cars (even if it’s home use…:), and living in modest and decent homes.
So what are these recent happenings which have triggered this article? Sarkodie went crazy and spoke his mind concerning how a show promoter has treated him simply because he
asked for a dressing room. In another development, Asem also used social media site, Twitter to vent his spleen on another show promoter who refused to honor his part of their agreement leading to him (Asem) not being able to honor the performance.As much as they are saying the right thing, I feel it has come a bit too late and done wrongly.
Ghanaian artistes for a long time have sold themselves short, they have not made the public and those in the entertainment industry to take them serious. Artistes play shows without getting their money but the next time the same organizer contacts them, they are on the stage again performing. How do you expect someone like this to respect you?
This is an industry where one artiste refuses to play a gig because the pay cheque is small and another artiste takes the job for even a much smaller fee. Artistes are constantly sabotaging each other to make shows.
The professional aspect of the whole showbiz thing has been left to the gutters and every artiste does his/her own thing. They are their own Managers, Promoters, Publicists, Marketers etc. I don’t know whether this is because of financial constraint or just the lack of the knowledge or just plain greed.
But if we’re to go by the fact that artistes as big as OK, Sarkodie, Asem, Obrafuo, Samini etc are constantly doing their own PR and Managerial stuff, then I’m tempted to say that our artistes are just plain greedy, they want to spend their money all by themselves.
It will have been better if Asem and Sarkodie’s issue have been addressed by their Managers or Publicists. These guys could have articulated the issue much better than the artiste “cos” thats their job.
I don’t see our artistes to be serious, they themselves do not see their act as a profession for someone else to see them as such. Many a time have I asked why Ghanaian artistes travel abroad for shows by themselves without anybody. Foreign artistes come to this country with entourages which can range from managers, bandsmen, DJ’s, Hype men, dancers and even family, yet when our people are going out for shows, they go alone or with just one person.
Even our Naija brothers come here with entourages and these people are all taken care of during the negotiation stage of the deal. I don’t think they bring them here and pay their hotel bills and stuff, no. So why can’t our artistes insist on these things but rather accept whatever the organizer throws their way. Is it because they are so desperate for money and fame so will do everything for those few dollar bills?
They must know that whatever you start, it is very difficult to change the status quo after a long time. Hiplife is over 10 years and this practice has gone on for all this while.
It is sad to hear an artiste say that we agreed on “x” amount, he was supposed to pay “y” amount and pay the remaining at so so and so time. What I want to ask is this, what happened to that paper with the dotted line at the bottom called CONTRACT?
I don’t even think a Ghanaian artiste has signed a show contract before. They don’t even have lawyers. To break it down, this is what a show contract does, it specifies exactly what the two parties expect from each other. The demands of the artiste, the fee agreed on, the mode of payment, how it’s going to be done. If it’s in installments, when and how each amount will be paid.
It also states what the organiser expects from the artiste, the time of arrival, interviews (if any), sound check time and time to arrive at the venue on the day of performance etc.
It also contains clauses which defines what a breach of the contract will entail and what happens after a party to the contract has breached the contract. This is read and re-read by lawyers for both parties before it is signed. Once signed, it’s binding on both parties.
If any of this is done, I don’t see the case where an artiste will play a show and then be chasing the promoter for his money.
You see a show poster with several artistes who might not even be on the show, our artistes see this yet do nothing, how then do you expect the promoter to take you serious. I don’t think a show promoter in the U.S will use Jay Z’s picture to advertise and promote an event without contacting Jay Z.
Jay Z on the other hand once he sees this, will quickly set his legal team on the promoter because when the show comes on and Jay Z doesn’t show, the fans can sue him and the show organisers for deception.
How many Ghanaian artiste have their own DJ’s, they attend shows with CD’s of their songs which are just exactly what the fans have in their homes for the DJ on duty to play for them. Do you call this a live performance? We must as well just blast your CD in our homes and dance.
The role of your DJ is simple, the two of you can practice how you want the songs to play, he can play the instrumentation and mix it with the vocals when it comes to the chorus or certain portions of the song to spice up the performance.
It also gives you enough time to rehearse and understand the songs together which will translate to a better performance than what a show DJ can do and it also eliminates the infamous, “DJ track 2, track 1? thing.
Our nigerian brothers are making fortunes out of music. They buy very expensive brand new cars and live in what we’ll call palaces. Look at Squareville, how many Ghanaian artistes can boast of a quarter of that??? What are they doing right, these are the things I’ll rather our artistes started talking about.
It’s time our artistes saw this as the profession that it is and began taking it serious. Nobody will take you serious if you do not show seriousness.
